Our comfortable properties, Pitkäkuusen Mökki and Pitkäkuusen Helmi, are located in the heart of Äkäslompolo in Ylläs, right next to the village services and the outdoor trails. They are ideal for families and small groups of 1–6 people, and rented together they sleep up to 11 guests.
The village services, ski trails and hiking routes are only a few hundred metres away on foot. Kittilä Airport is about 36 km away and Kolari railway station about 38 km.

A Coolcation in Finnish Lapland
Äkäslompolo sits north of the Arctic Circle, where the seasons are dramatic and the air is measured among the cleanest in the world. This is what makes a winter here different from a winter anywhere else. In summer it's just as different: a coolcation spot where visitors from Central and Southern Europe trade the heat for fresh Arctic air and cool, bright nights.

From late autumn to early spring the aurora can appear straight above the cabin on any clear night. Around midwinter the sun barely rises and the snow turns deep blue in the long twilight. By March you are out on the trails in bright sunshine well into the evening.
Everything Ylläs has to offer
Husky and reindeer safaris, snowmobile trips, ice fishing and snowshoe walks all start within a few kilometres. Ylläs has one of the largest cross-country networks in Finland, with hundreds of kilometres of maintained tracks and two downhill areas. The nearest track is a couple of hundred metres from the door.
Sauna, forest and real silence
Every one of our properties has a proper Finnish sauna, the ritual Finns use to close the day. Outside is Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, where you can walk for hours through old spruce forest and hear nothing at all. Tap water is drinkable everywhere and nobody is in a hurry.
A cooler kind of summer
While Central and Southern Europe swelter, daytime highs here usually sit in the high teens to low twenties and nights cool right down. It is an easy coolcation escape when the heat elsewhere gets too much.
Very clean apartment in a great location. Beautifully furnished, excellent kitchen equipment and a lovely balcony. Being able to bring our dog was important to us.
Clean and new apartment. The air source heat pump was a big plus in this heat.
Practical, well equipped, clean and comfortable cabin. Very close to the village and its services, yet it still feels private and there was no noise. Hiking trails are a short walk or drive away.

A very fresh apartment in a calm and pleasant residential area. Parking was right outside the door. Easy to find and the location suited us perfectly. We would gladly stay here again if we came to Lahti more often!
